Ingredients/Components
- butter, softened - 1 c
- sugar - 2 c
- cinnamon - 1 Tbsp
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts
- brown sugar - 1/4 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- cake flour - 2 c
- sour cream or yogurt - 1 c
- slivered almonds for top - 1 item
How to make coffee cake:
Topping:1/2 c. chopped nuts1/4 c. brown sugar1 Tbsp. cinnamon slivered almonds for top Blend butter and sugar until barely mixed. Do not cream or overbeat. Add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla. Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Alternately add flour mixture and sour cream. Mix 2 minutes on medium speed. Thoroughly grease and lightly flour angel food cake pan.Mix nuts, brown sugar and cinnamon. Spoon half the cake batter into pan. Sprinkle half the topping over batter. Spoon on remainder of batter and remainder of topping. To marble, run knife around center, cutting to bottom of pan. Bake for 55 minutes. Garnish with almonds.
