Cornish pasties
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour
- water
- shortening - 1 c
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- green onions with tops - 3 item
- pinch of baking powder - 1 item
- beef sirloin tip, finely diced - 1 lb
How to make cornish pasties:
Pastry:4 c. flour2 tsp. salt pinch of baking powder1 c. shortening about 2/3 c. water Combine filling ingredients in bowl.Pastry: Cut shortening into dry ingredients. Add water. Divide into 12 pieces. Roll to 6-inch circles. Put 1/2 cup filling on 1/2 of pastry circle. Fold over and seal. Make slits in top. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes, then at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes or until brown.
Can be frozen, unbaked. Thaw, then cook as above.
