Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 4 c
- brown sugar - 1 c
- water - 2/3 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- chopped dates - 2 c
- shortening - 1 c
- nuts - 1/2 c
- eggs, well beaten - 2 item
- white sugar - 1 c
- pinch of baking powder - 1 item
How to make date pinwheel cookies:
In saucepan, bring dates, water, 1/2 cup sugar and nuts to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Cream shortening and rest of sugars. Add eggs and dry ingredients. Roll dough 1/4 inch thick and spread with date mixture. Roll in wax paper and chill overnight. Bake at 400°.In memory of Florence Osminski.
