Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 1 c
  • sour cream
  • salt
  • water
  • pepper
  • shredded Cheddar cheese
  • can cream of mushroom soup - 1 3/4
  • shortening or oil
  • crushed corn flakes or Wheaties - 1 c
  • stew beef 1-inch cubes
  • large, sliced onions - 2 item
  • or 5 sliced potatoes - 4 item

How to make connecticut beef supper:

Brown meat and onions in shortening until browned and onions are soft. Add water and heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer for 50 minutes.

Heat oven to 350°. Pour meat and onions into a 13 x 9-inch dish or pan. Arrange potato slices on top. Combine soup with sour cream, milk, salt and pepper; pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese and cereal. Bake, uncovered, 1 1/2 hours or until potatoes are cooked.
