  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 4 item
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • butter - 3 Tbsp
  • water - 1 c
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • plain flour - 3 c
  • Crisco - 1 c
  • Karo syrup - 2 Tbsp
  • coconut flavoring
  • Beat well

How to make coconut pound cake:

Cream sugar and Crisco; add eggs. Beat well. Add flavoring. Sift dry ingredients together. Add dry ingredients with buttermilk. Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes at 325°.Coconut Pound Cake Sauce:2 c. sugar1 c. water2 Tbsp. Karo syrup1 tsp. coconut flavoring3 Tbsp. butter Mix all together. Cook 5 minutes. Spoon over cake while it is hot. Let stand overnight in the tube pan.
