Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 tsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • eggs, beaten - 4 item
  • pepper - 1 tsp
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 1 c
  • ground beef - 2 lb
  • medium onion - 1 item
  • Mozzarella cheese - 2 lb
  • dried parsley flakes - 2 tsp
  • cans tomato paste - 4 oz
  • dried whole basil - 2 tsp
  • Sauce:2 cloves garlic, minced
  • cartons Ricotta cheese - 4 oz
  • cans Italian stewed tomatoes undrained - 2 oz

How to make classic lasagna:

Sauce:2 cloves garlic, minced2 tsp. dried parsley flakes2 tsp. dried whole basil2 (16 oz.) cans Italian stewed tomatoes (undrained)4 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste1/2 tsp. salt2 tsp. sugar Cook beef until browned, stirring to crumble; drain. (Add onion if desired.) Add the seven ingredients for meat sauce. Simmer for 15 minutes or until thick, stirring occasionally.

Cook lasagna noodles according to directions; drain. Combine in a mixing bowl the eggs, Ricotta cheese, pepper and Parmesan cheese. Stir well.

Spread 1/2 to 1 cup of meat sauce in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Layer 1/2 each of noodles, Ricotta cheese mixture, Mozzarella cheese and meat sauce. Repeat layers. Cover and bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
