Classic lasagna
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- eggs, beaten - 4 item
- pepper - 1 tsp
- grated Parmesan cheese - 1 c
- ground beef - 2 lb
- medium onion - 1 item
- Mozzarella cheese - 2 lb
- dried parsley flakes - 2 tsp
- cans tomato paste - 4 oz
- dried whole basil - 2 tsp
- Sauce:2 cloves garlic, minced
- cartons Ricotta cheese - 4 oz
- cans Italian stewed tomatoes undrained - 2 oz
How to make classic lasagna:
Sauce:2 cloves garlic, minced2 tsp. dried parsley flakes2 tsp. dried whole basil2 (16 oz.) cans Italian stewed tomatoes (undrained)4 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste1/2 tsp. salt2 tsp. sugar Cook beef until browned, stirring to crumble; drain. (Add onion if desired.) Add the seven ingredients for meat sauce. Simmer for 15 minutes or until thick, stirring occasionally.Cook lasagna noodles according to directions; drain. Combine in a mixing bowl the eggs, Ricotta cheese, pepper and Parmesan cheese. Stir well.
Spread 1/2 to 1 cup of meat sauce in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Layer 1/2 each of noodles, Ricotta cheese mixture, Mozzarella cheese and meat sauce. Repeat layers. Cover and bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
