Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 5 item
- cake flour I use plain flour - 3 c
- sugar - 3 c
- cocoa - 1/2 c
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- sticks margarine, softened - 2 item
- milk
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- Sift flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder together
- Crisco, melted - 1/2 c
- dash of salt - 1 item
How to make chocolate pound cake:
Cream shortening, margarine and sugar. Sift flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder together. Add eggs, one at a time. Add milk and dry mixture alternately, beating thoroughly. Bake at 350° until done, about 1 hour and 15 to 30 minutes.Chocolate Pound Cake Icing:2 c. sugar1/4 c. cocoa2/3 c. milk1/2 c. Crisco, melted2 tsp. vanilla dash of salt Combine sugar and cocoa. Add melted Crisco and milk. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove and add vanilla. Beat until creamy. Add 1 tablespoon of cream if frosting becomes too thick.
