Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/8 tsp
- cornstarch - 6 Tbsp
- eggs, separated - 4 item
- hot milk - 3 c
- chocolate or 3 Tbsp
How to make chocolate pie:
Mix cornstarch, sugar and salt. Add the hot milk, stirring constantly. Cook in double boiler until mixture is thick. Cool slightly. Pour into baked pastry shell. Cover with meringue made from the egg whites and bake in a slow oven (250° to 300°) until a delicate brown.Meringue: Beat the whites of eggs until stiff, adding 1 tablespoon sugar for each white. Beat thoroughly after each tablespoon of sugar is added.
