  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 1/3 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • soda - 2 tsp
  • cocoa - 3/4 c
  • confectioners sugar - 1 item
  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • stick butter - 1/2 item
  • Add cocoa

How to make chocolate cake:

Blend first three ingredients. Add cocoa. Add eggs, one at a time. Add soda, salt and vanilla. Alternate flour and buttermilk, starting with flour. Bake in a 13 x 9-inch greased and floured pan at 350° for 50 to 55 minutes.Icing:1/2 c. cocoa1/2 stick butter1/3 c. milk confectioners sugar Heat cocoa, butter and milk. Remove from heat and add enough confectioners sugar to make stiff.
