Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water - 1/4 c
  • cider vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1 tsp
  • soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • Tabasco sauce - 1/2 tsp
  • medium chopped onion - 1 item
  • ground mustard - 1 tsp
  • honey or brown sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • strips fresh pork spareribs, cracked for easy eating - 2 item
  • crushed, peeled section garlic - 1 item

How to make chinese barbecued spareribs:

Layer spareribs in shallow pan; dust with salt and pepper. Bake 30 minutes in hot (450°) oven. Meantime, in saucepan, stir together onion, tomato sauce, vinegar, soy sauce, honey, salt, pepper, mustard, Tabasco sauce, bay leaf, garlic and water. Bring to boil. Pour over ribs. Reduce heat to 350° and bake 1 hour. Baste twice with pan drippings. Garnish. Cut scallions and/or small pickles. Delicious!
