Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • milk - 1/3 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1/2 c
  • water - 1/2 c
  • oil - 1 Tbsp
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • margarine - 1 Tbsp
  • cornmeal - 2/3 c
  • chili powder - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped onions - 1 c
  • sliced celery - 1 c
  • pinto beans - 1 can
  • luncheon meat, cubed - 1 can
  • Chef Boyardee lasagna - 2 cans

How to make chili lasagna:

In a large skillet, saute onions and celery in margarine. Add lasagna, beans, meat, water, chili powder and salt; mix well. Combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt and sugar. Beat egg, milk and oil together; pour over cornmeal mixture and mix well. Spoon dumplings onto heated chili lasagna mixture and cover. Simmer 20 minutes or until dumplings are set. Serves six.

Variation: Preheat oven to 375°. Pour lasagna mixture into 2-quart baking dish. Spoon dumplings onto surface. Bake at 375° for 25 to 30 minutes or until dumplings are set.
