Ingredients/Components
- garlic powder - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- can stewed tomatoes - 1 1/2
- large onions, chopped - 2 item
- oregano - 1 tsp
- cans red kidney beans - 2 1/2
- cans dark red kidney beans - 2 1/2
- chili powder or to taste - 1/4 c
- ground red pepper optional - 1/4 tsp
- lean ground beef or turkey - 1 lb
- can peeled Italian style tomatoes, cut up - 1 oz
How to make chili:
In a large Dutch oven, cook the ground meat and chopped onions until meat is brown and onions are tender; drain off fat. Stir in the undrained beans and tomatoes. Add chili powder, garlic powder, oregano and pepper. Bring to boiling and reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, about 1 1/4 hours, or until of desired consistency, stirring occasionally.
