Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/2 lb
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/2 c
- pepper - 1 tsp
- chicken broth - 1 qt
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- whole milk - 1/2 gal
- large bag mixed frozen vegetables - 1 item
- deep dish pie crust, thawed - 4 pkg
- to 10 pieces chicken breast - 8 item
How to make chicken pot pie:
In a 6-quart boiler, boil chicken breasts until done. Remove and let cool. Remove chicken from bone. In another 6-quart boiler, melt butter, then add onion and cook until tender. Add salt and pepper. Add flour; let cook about 1 minute. Pour in 1 quart chicken broth and 1/2 gallon milk. Cook until it begins to thicken. Add mixed vegetables and chicken. Cook, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Pour in 4 of the unbaked pie crusts. Use the remaining pie crust to put on top. Bake in a 350° oven until golden brown.
