Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • plain flour - 1/2 c
  • butter, melted - 1/3 c
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • chopped celery - 1 c
  • chicken broth - 2 c
  • chopped carrots - 1 c
  • chicken, cooked and chopped - 4 c
  • 9-inch pastry shells - 2 item

How to make chicken pot pie:

Saute onion, celery and carrots in butter for 10 minutes. Add flour to mixture, stirring well. Cook 1 minute. Combine broth and milk; gradually stir into vegetable mixture. Cook over medium heat; stir until thickened and bubbly. Stir in salt, pepper and add chopped chicken. Pour chicken mixture in shallow 2-quart casserole. Top with pastry; cut slits to allow steam to escape. Bake at 400° for 40 minutes.
