Ingredients/Components

  • garlic salt - 1/2 tsp
  • sliced green onions - 1/2 c
  • shredded Cheddar cheese - 1/2 c
  • corn oil - 1 item
  • shredded, cooked chicken - 2 c
  • chunky salsa - 1/4 c
  • diced avocado - 1/2 c
  • flour tortillas, warmed - 8 item
  • canned, diced green chilies - 1/4 c

How to make chicken chimichangas:

In small bowl, combine chicken, cheese, onions, chilies, salsa and garlic salt. Carefully fold in avocado. Divide mixture evenly among tortillas. Carefully fold in sides of tortillas, making sure to enclose all of the filling. Secure on ends with wooden toothpicks. Deep fat fry at 350° for 3 to 5 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot with sour cream and salsa. Makes 8 servings.
