Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/2 c
  • flour - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • well beaten egg - 1 item
  • well drained cherries - 1 can
  • salad oil* - 1 tsp

How to make cherry torte:

*This is correct: 1 teaspoon, not tablespoon.

Mix dry ingredients; add cherries, egg and salad oil. Mix well. (This takes about 5 minutes until sugar is dissolved.) Place in 8-inch square pan or one of equivalent size. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes. Delicious with whipped cream and stays moist for several days.
