Cheddar chowder
Ingredients/Components
- milk
- flour - 1/3 c
- water - 3 c
- margarine - 1/4 c
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- chicken bouillon cubes - 5 item
- green pepper, diced - 1/2 c
- stalks celery, chopped - 2 item
- pimento - 2 oz
- Cheddar cheese, grated - 6 oz
- medium onion, sliced - 1 item
- garlic powder to taste - 1 item
- medium potatoes, diced - 4 item
- carrots, thinly sliced - 1 c
- Dash to taste
- thyme to taste - 1 item
How to make cheddar chowder:
Combine water and bouillon cubes in a heavy Dutch oven. Bring to a boil. Add vegetables; cover and simmer 12 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Melt margarine in heavy pan; blend in flour and cook 1 minute. Gradually add milk and mix with a whisk. Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Add cheese, stirring over low heat until melted. Add all ingredients to Dutch oven, stirring over low heat. Do not boil. Serves 8.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Chowders, Super bowl.
