Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- popped corn - 6 qt
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- 2 c - 1 pkg
- light Karo - 1/2 c
- 2 cubes margarine - 1/2 lb
How to make caramel corn:
Put popcorn in larger roaster pan (I spray with non-stick spray). In saucepan, put brown sugar, margarine, Karo, salt and cream of tartar. Cook over medium to medium high heat, stirring constantly until hard ball stage (260° to 264°). Remove from stove; add soda and stir. Pour over popcorn and stir until covered. Put into 200° oven for 1 hour. Stir twice during this time. Dump on wax paper and separate to cool. Makes about 2 gallons.Recipe categories: Lunch/snacks, Snacks, American.
