Ingredients/Components
- packed brown sugar - 2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- corn syrup - 1/2 c
- oleo - 1 c
- peanuts - 1 pkg
- popped popcorn - 6 qt
- maple flavoring optional - 1/2 tsp
How to make caramel corn:
Put the 6 quarts of popped popcorn in a large roaster. Stir in peanuts, if desired. Boil for 5 minutes: packed brown sugar, oleo, salt, corn syrup and optional maple flavoring. Remove from heat. Add 1 teaspoon baking soda to mixture. This will make it foamy. Pour over popped corn and mix well. Bake at 275° for 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Do not let it get too brown.
