Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 5 c
  • cinnamon - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 2 Tbsp
  • water - 1/2 gal
  • nutmeg - 4 Tbsp
  • stick butter or margarine - 1 item
  • sweet potatoes - 3 4
  • vanilla flavor - 3 Tbsp
  • Aunt Jemima syrup - 1/4 c

How to make candied sweet potatoes:

Peel and rinse the potatoes; slice crossways, 1-inch thick. Place in the 1/2 gallon of water. Bring to a boil and let boil for 10 minutes. Remove the potatoes and place in a roasting pan. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg, flavor, sugar, syrup, butter and salt. Cover with 2 to 3 cups of water and cook in moderate oven at 325° for 30 to 45 minutes. Serves 10 to 12.
