Ingredients/Components

  • water - 4 c
  • raisins - 1 c
  • light brown sugar - 3/4 c
  • chopped celery - 1/2 c
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • can stewed tomatoes - 1 oz
  • salt and pepper - 1 item
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • A - 1/4 c
  • apple, peeled and chopped - 1 item
  • stew meat - 1 lb
  • cabbage head - 1 lb
  • bacon drippings or oil - 3 Tbsp

How to make cabbage soup:

In a large stew pot brown meat in drippings. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook 2 hours, adding water, if necessary.

Note: One cup cooked rice may be added to soup, just long enough before serving to heat through.
