Ingredients/Components
- water - 4 c
- raisins - 1 c
- light brown sugar - 3/4 c
- chopped celery - 1/2 c
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- can stewed tomatoes - 1 oz
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- A - 1/4 c
- apple, peeled and chopped - 1 item
- stew meat - 1 lb
- cabbage head - 1 lb
- bacon drippings or oil - 3 Tbsp
How to make cabbage soup:
In a large stew pot brown meat in drippings. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook 2 hours, adding water, if necessary.Note: One cup cooked rice may be added to soup, just long enough before serving to heat through.
