Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • water - 1/2 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • cider vinegar - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped onion - 2/3 c
  • cans tomato sauce
  • lean ground beef
  • head cabbage - 1 item
  • each salt and pepper - 1 tsp
  • large clove garlic, crushed - 1 item
  • oats regular or quick - 1/4 c

How to make cabbage rolls:

Filling:1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef1/4 c. oats (regular or quick)2/3 c. chopped onion1/2 c. milk1 egg1 tsp. each salt and pepper Sauce:2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce1/2 c. water1/4 c. sugar2 Tbsp. cider vinegar1 large clove garlic, crushed Remove core of cabbage and simmer until leaves can be removed easily. Need about 12.

Mix filling ingredients. Fill leaves and fasten with toothpicks if necessary. Place seam down in a 9 x 13-inch pan.

Mix sauce ingredients and pour over cabbage rolls. Cover and bake 1 1/2 hours at 350°. Place on serving dish.

Mix 1/4 cup cold water and 2 tablespoons cornstarch. Heat sauce to a boil and thicken. Pour over rolls and serve as extra "gravy". Serve with hot buttered noodles.
