Cabbage rolls
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
- oil - 2 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- can tomato sauce - 2 oz
- small onion, chopped fine - 1 item
- ground beef - 1-1/2 lb
- poultry seasoning - 1/2 tsp
- large cabbage leaves - 12 item
- cup water - 1/4 item
- cup cooked rice - 1 item
- Boiling water - 1 item
How to make cabbage rolls:
Place cabbage leaves in a container and cover with boiling water. Let stand for 5 minutes. Combine ground beef, salt, pepper, rice, poultry seasoning, onion and egg. Mix well. Cut center stem from cabbage leaf and place 1/12 of beef mixture into center of each leaf. Roll up and secure with a toothpick. Heat oil in a large pot and brown each cabbage roll. Mix tomato sauce, brown sugar, water and lemon juice and pour over cabbage rolls. Simmer on low heat for 1 hr.Recipe categories: Main dish, Casseroles, Pork.
