Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 2 tsp
  • brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • oil - 2 Tbsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • can tomato sauce - 2 oz
  • small onion, chopped fine - 1 item
  • ground beef - 1-1/2 lb
  • poultry seasoning - 1/2 tsp
  • large cabbage leaves - 12 item
  • cup water - 1/4 item
  • cup cooked rice - 1 item
  • Boiling water - 1 item

How to make cabbage rolls:

Place cabbage leaves in a container and cover with boiling water. Let stand for 5 minutes. Combine ground beef, salt, pepper, rice, poultry seasoning, onion and egg. Mix well. Cut center stem from cabbage leaf and place 1/12 of beef mixture into center of each leaf. Roll up and secure with a toothpick. Heat oil in a large pot and brown each cabbage roll. Mix tomato sauce, brown sugar, water and lemon juice and pour over cabbage rolls. Simmer on low heat for 1 hr.
