Meatball sandwiches
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 tsp
- milk - 3 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- water - 1 c
- eggs, lightly beaten - 2 item
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
- bread crumbs - 1/2 c
- can tomato paste - 1 oz
- chopped parsley - 2 Tbsp
- lean ground beef - 1 lb
- dried oregano - 1 tsp
- bulk Italian sausage
- 6-inch sandwich rolls - 8 item
How to make meatball sandwiches:
Sauce:1/2 lb. bulk Italian sausage1/2 c. chopped onion1/2 c. chopped green pepper1 clove garlic, minced1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce1 c. water2 tsp. sugar1 tsp. dried oregano2 Tbsp. chopped parsley For meatballs, combine first 6 ingredients. Shape into 1 1/2-inch meatballs. Sprinkle lightly with flour and brown in a little oil. Remove meatballs from pan and add sausage, onion, green pepper and garlic.Sauce: Break sausage apart and cook until brown. Drain; add tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, sugar, oregano and parsley. Mix well and return meatballs to skillet and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Fill sandwich rolls. Makes 8 servings.
