Ingredients/Components

  • sour cream - 8 oz
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • shredded Cheddar cheese - 1 c
  • can cream of celery soup - 1 item
  • small onion, chopped - 1 item
  • bread or cracker crumbs - 1 c
  • can water chestnuts, sliced - 1 item
  • medium head cabbage, shredded - 1 item

How to make cabbage casserole:

Boil cabbage until tender. Drain and add salt and pepper to taste. Add margarine, sour cream, onion, soup and chestnuts. Put one-half of the mixture in casserole dish. Sprinkle one-half of the cheese and repeat layers. Top with crumbs. Sprinkle with paprika, if desired. Bake at 350° until bubbly (about 30 minutes).
