Brownie pudding
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- granulated sugar - 1/3 c
- milk - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cocoa - 1 Tbsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- boiling water - 3/4 c
- sifted flour - 1/2 c
- brown sugar, firmly packed - 1/2 c
- shortening, melted - 1 Tbsp
- chopped nut meats if desired - 1/4 c
How to make brownie pudding:
Sift flour once. Measure. Add baking powder, salt, granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon cocoa and sift again. Add milk, shortening and vanilla. Mix only until smooth, then add nuts. Pour into greased casserole or small baking dish. Mix together brown sugar and 2 tablespoons cocoa; sprinkle over batter, then pour boiling water over top of the batter. (This makes a chocolate sauce in the bottom of pan after pudding is baked.) Bake in moderate oven at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.
