  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp

  • margarine, softened - 1 c
  • plain flour - 3 c
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • white sugar - 1/2 c
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition

How to make brown sugar pound cake:

Cream margarine and Crisco; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine baking powder and flour; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Stir in vanilla and pecans. Bake in a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes and invert to cool completely. Frost.Cream Cheese Frosting:1/2 c. margarine, softened1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened2 tsp. vanilla1 (16 oz.) pkg. powdered sugar Combine all ingredients and mix well.
