- bay leaf - 1 item
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- small onion, diced - 1 item
- lentils - 1 lb
- cubes beef bouillon - 4 item
- carrot, diced - 1 item
- salt pork or smoked ham - 1 lb
- crushed garlic cloves to taste - 1 item
How to make brown lentil soup:
Soak lentils overnight. Drain. Place lentils in a deep pot. Add salt pork, onion, carrot, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Add enough water to cover. Add bouillon cubes. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 1 hour.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Asian, Indian.
