Ingredients/Components
- slim, medium-size cucumbers, sliced - 4 qt
- salt - 1/4 c
- trays ice cubes - 2 item
- green peppers, sliced and diced - 2 item
- onions, thinly sliced - 8 item
- sugar - 4 c
- turmeric
- whole cloves - 1/2 tsp
- mustard seed
- celery seed - 1 tsp
- vinegar - 1 qt
- water - 1 c
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Place cucumbers in large pot. Sprinkle with salt. Top with ice cubes. Let stand 3 hours. Drain well. Make syrup of sugar, vinegar, water and spices. Let come to boil, but do not boil.
