Bread and butter pickles
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 c
- salt - 1/2 c
- vinegar - 5 c
- ground ginger - 2 tsp
- celery seed - 2 tsp
- medium onions - 10 item
- mustard seed - 2 tsp
- turmeric - 1 tsp
- sliced bell peppers - 5 item
- cucumbers 1-inch thick - 30 item
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Slice cucumbers and onions. Sprinkle with salt and let stand in ice cubes for 3 hours. Drain. Combine remaining ingredients; bring to boil. Add cucumbers, onions and bell peppers. Bring to boiling point. Simmer for 10 minutes. Seal in sterilized jars. Process for 10 minutes at simmering temperature, about 180°.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
