Beef chop suey
Ingredients/Components
- beef, diced
- oil - 1/4 c
- soy sauce - 2 Tbsp
- salt and freshly ground black pepper - 1 item
- celery, cut in 1-inch pieces - 3 c
- large onions, chopped - 2 item
- molasses or dark corn syrup Karo - 1 Tbsp
- beef bouillon - 2 c
- canned bean sprouts - 2 c
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- water - 1/4 c
- hot, boiled rice - 6 c
How to make beef chop suey:
Fry beef in oil over high heat for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in soy sauce, salt and pepper. Remove meat and keep hot. To oil remaining in saucepan, add celery, onions, molasses (or dark corn syrup) and bouillon. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Add bean sprouts. Cook for 3 minutes. Replace beef.Mix cornstarch and water; add to skillet. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Serve with rice. Yields 6 servings.
