Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • boiling water - 1 item
  • chopped onions - 1/2 c
  • cloves garlic, finely chopped - 2 item
  • olive oil - 1 Tbsp
  • ketchup - 2/3 c
  • apricot preserves - 1/3 c
  • chili powder - 2 tsp

How to make barbecued spareribs:

In a 6-quart saucepot, cook spareribs and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in boiling water. Cook until tender, about 30 minutes. In a small skillet, saute onions and garlic in oil until golden, about 5 minutes. Stir in ketchup, preserves, chili powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Heat to boiling. Drain ribs and brush with sauce. Cook ribs on outside grill or under inside broiler, brushing again with more sauce until shiny and browned, 5 to 7 minutes on each side. Serves 6.
