Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • water - 1 c
  • lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
  • chili powder - 1/2 tsp
  • catsup
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • clove garlic - 1 item
  • medium onion - 1 item
  • celery seed - 1 tsp
  • liquid smoke - 1 Tbsp
  • brisket of beef

How to make barbecued brisket:

Sauce:1 c. catsup2 Tbsp. lemon juice1 Tbsp. sugar1/2 tsp. chili powder2 tsp. salt1 Tbsp. liquid smoke1 tsp. celery seed1 c. water Boil the brisket with onion, garlic and bay leaf until tender, 2 to 3 hours, on top of stove. Slice brisket thinly. Place brisket in roasting pan and bake at 350° for 1 hour. If serving with rice, double the sauce.
