- large onion - 1 item
- bottle ketchup - 1 oz
- packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
- molasses - 3/4 c
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- water - 3 c
- honey - 1/2 c
- lemon juice - 6 Tbsp
- Canadian Mist or other - 1 c
- garlic powder
- fresh pepper - 1 1
- barbecue seasoning - 1 1
- celery seed - 1 2
- paprika - 1/2 tsp
- liquid hickory seasoning - 1 to
How to make barbecue sauce:
Seasonings:1/2 to 1 tsp. garlic powder1 to 1 1/2 tsp. fresh pepper1 to 1 1/2 tsp. barbecue seasoning1 to 2 tsp. celery seed1/2 tsp. paprika1 1/2 to 3 tsp. liquid hickory seasoning In a heavy cooking pot, saute onion in butter until transparent. Add remaining ingredients, except for seasonings. Blend well and add the seasonings. Adjust to your taste and stir well. Bring to a slow boil and reduce heat to simmer. Cover pot and simmer for 1 hour. Remove lid and cook for another hour. Sauce should slightly bubble. Cool and pour into empty ketchup bottle.Recipe categories: Condiments, etc., Southern u.s., Cajun.
