Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • grated cheese - 4 Tbsp
  • medium size tomatoes - 3 item
  • dried oregano or basil - 1/2 tsp
  • salad oil plus a little more to oil the baking pan - 1 Tbsp
  • soft bread crumbs crumble 1 slice bread with your hands - 3 Tbsp

How to make baked tomatoes:

You will need a small baking pan.

Preheat oven to 350°. Oil a small pan. Wash the tomatoes in cold water. Cut them in half across the middle. Using your fingers or a small spoon, scoop out and throw away the seeds and the liquid around them. Sprinkle the tomatoes with salt, then turn them upside-down on paper towels to drain for 10 minutes. Place cut side up in the oiled baking pan. Combine the salad oil, cheese and oregano or basil. Stuff this mixture into the holes in the tomatoes where the seeds used to be. Sprinkle some of the bread crumbs on each tomato half, then press a slice of butter on top. Bake tomatoes for 20 minutes.
