Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • shredded Mozzarella cheese - 2 c
  • basil leaves - 1/2 tsp
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • crushed red pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • oregano leaves - 1/2 tsp
  • can undrained mushrooms - 1 oz
  • rotini uncooked - 8 oz
  • can whole tomatoes, cut up and undrained - 1 oz

How to make baked rotini:

In medium skillet, combine beef and onion. Cook until beef is browned and onion tender. Drain. Stir in next 8 ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.

Prepare rotini according to package directions; drain. Combine rotini and meat sauce; mix well.

Layer 1/2 of meat mixture into 3-quart baking dish. Top with 1 cup cheese. Repeat layers. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
