Ingredients/Components

  • milk
  • flour - 4 Tbsp
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • oleo - 1/2 c
  • onion, chopped - 1 c
  • celery, chopped - 1 c
  • dash of cayenne pepper - 1 item
  • Cheddar cheese, shredded - 1/2 lb
  • seasoned bread crumbs - 1/4 c
  • bell pepper, chopped - 1 c
  • large cabbage, cut bite size - 1 item

How to make baked cajun cabbage:

Boil cabbage 10 minutes, uncovered, until tender-crisp. Drain. Place in casserole. Blend oleo and flour in saucepan over medium heat. Add onion, celery, pepper, salt and cayenne pepper. Saute 10 minutes. Add the milk and Cheddar Cheese. Blend well until melted. Pour over cabbage. Top with the bread crumbs and bake at 350° for 30 minutes. (I use hot Mexican Velveeta cheese.)
