Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
- large egg whites - 6 item
How to make baked alaska:
Place individual sponge cake cups or pieces of cake on a board. Fill the center of each with a scoop of flavored ice cream. Place in freezer while preparing Special Meringue. Beat 6 large egg whites with 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar until frothy. Beat in gradually, 1 cup sugar. Continue beating until meringue is stiff and glossy. Cover cake and ice cream with Special Meringue, sealing meringue to board.Place in very hot oven (500°) just until tops of meringue are delicately browned. Serve at once.
