shortening - 1/2 c
sugar - 1 c
flour - 2 c
salt - 1/2 tsp
cinnamon - 1 tsp
cloves - 1/2 tsp
nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
egg - 1 item
applesauce - 1 c

How to make applesauce cookies:

In small bowl, combine all dry ingredients, except nuts. In large bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and applesauce; mix well. Stir in flour mixture until smooth. Add nuts. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 370° for 10 minutes.
