Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • cream cheese - 8 oz
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • eggs, separated - 5 item
  • coconut - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • nuts - 1 c
  • powdered sugar - 1 lb
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • oleo - 1/2 c
  • stick oleo - 1 item

How to make italian cream cake:

Beat egg whites until stiff; set aside. Mix sugar, stick of oleo, Crisco, buttermilk, egg yolks, flour, soda, nuts and coconut together. Fold in egg whites. Spread in 9 x 13-inch greased and floured cake pan. Bake at 300° for 45 to 55 minutes.

Combine cream cheese, 1/2 cup oleo, powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until fluffy. Spread on cooled cake.
