- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- brown sugar - 2 c
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- raisins - 1 c
- allspice - 1 tsp
- applesauce - 2 c
- nut meats, chopped - 1 c
- flour * - 1 item
How to make applesauce cake:
*Use enough to make heavy batter, about 2 1/2 to 3 cups, depending on how heavy or thin your applesauce is.Cream sugar, salt and shortening. Add eggs, beating after each egg. Add spices and applesauce, then nuts and raisins. Next add flour. Bake slowly for about 1 hour at 350°.
