Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 1 c
• shortening - 1/4 c
• egg - 1 item
• soda - 1 tsp
• salt - 1/2 tsp
• nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
• cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
• nuts - 1/4 c
• large apples, grated - 3 item
• flour - 1 c
• Add dry ingredients
• Karo - 2/3 c
• butter - 4 Tbsp

How to make apple cake:

Mix sugar, shortening and egg together. Add dry ingredients. Stir in apples and nuts. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.Caramel Sauce:1/4 c. brown sugar2/3 c. Karo4 Tbsp. butter Cook until soft ball stage; add 3/4 cup canned milk. Serve warm with sauce and a teaspoonful of whipped cream.
