  • plain flour - 3 c
  • oleo - 1 c
  • white sugar - 2 c
  • unsweetened applesauce
  • Add applesauce, white sugar and spices

How to make applesauce cake with caramel frosting:

Melt oleo in large saucepan. Add applesauce, white sugar and spices. Heat thoroughly. Stir in flour and soda. Stir in egg. Pour in greased 9 x 12-inch pan. Bake 40 minutes at 350°.Caramel Frosting:1/2 c. oleo1 c. brown sugar1/4 c. milk1 3/4 to 2 c. confectioners sugar Melt oleo in saucepan. Add brown sugar and boil over low heat 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add milk and continue stirring until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat and cool. Add confectioners sugar, until of spreading consistency. Spread over cool cake.
