  • sugar
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 3 item
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
  • cherry juice - 1/2 c
  • shortening you can use part butter - 3/4 c
  • sweet cherries canned - 1 qt

How to make cherry cake:

Cream together sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat thoroughly. Add 1 cup of the flour, salt, soda, baking powder and spices and mix thoroughly. Add and mix remaining 1 3/4 cups flour, milk and cherry juice. Fold in drained pitted cherries and the nuts. Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. After removing cake from oven, let it stand on cake rack about 5 minutes, then remove from pan. Let cake cool on cake rack. Serve while it is still a little bit warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
