Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- warm water - 1/4 c
- yeast - 1 pkg
How to make angel flake biscuits:
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside. Sift together next 5 ingredients. To this, add buttermilk, shortening and the yeast mixture. Roll on floured dough board until thin. Fold in half, making edges even and roll thin. Fold in half again and roll until thickness of biscuit desired. Cut out biscuits and place in an airtight plastic container. Keep stored in refrigerator until needed. They will keep for at least two weeks. Do not let them rise before placing in oven. Bake at 350° until brown.
