Angel flake biscuits
Ingredients/Components
- yeast - 1 pkg
- water - 1/2 c
- flour - 5 c
- salt - 2 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- baking powder - 1 Tbsp
- shortening - 3/4 c
- buttermilk I usually use the dry buttermilk mix - 2 c
How to make angel flake biscuits:
Soak yeast in water. Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Add yeast, egg and buttermilk and mix well. Put in greased bowl and refrigerate. Roll out on well-floured board and cut biscuits. (The dough will be very sticky.) Let rise. Bake at 450° for 10 to 12 minutes. Will keep in covered bowl for 1 week in the refrigerator.Recipe categories: Breads, Rolls/biscuits, Midwestern u.s..
