  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 5 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • warm water - 1/4 c
  • yeast - 1 pkg

How to make angel biscuits:

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Cut shortening into flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add yeast and buttermilk. Stir well. Put mixture on floured surface. Knead a little and roll out. Cut with biscuit cutter. Great to make ahead; will keep 3 or 4 days in refrigerator. Bake at 400° approximately 10 minutes.
