  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • all-purpose flour - 5 c
  • warm water - 2 Tbsp
  • dry yeast - 1 pkg

How to make angel biscuits:

Sift flour and measure. Sift again with dry ingredients into a large bowl. Cut in shortening. Add buttermilk and yeast, dissolved in warm water. Mix well. Pat or roll out on floured wax paper. Cut and cook on greased pan in 425° oven for 15 minutes. This does not need to rise and will keep well in refrigerator several days.
