Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 5 c
- buttermilk - 2 c
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- yeast - 1 pkg
- lukewarm water - 1/2 c
- shortening I use margarine - 3/4 c
How to make angel biscuits:
Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add buttermilk and dissolved yeast. Mix well with large spoon until all flour is moistened. Cover bowl and place in refrigerator.When ready to use, take amount out that is needed and roll on floured board 1/2 inch thick. Cut out with cookie cutter and bake on greased cookie sheet at 400° for 12 minutes. Makes 6 dozen. Dough will keep 3 weeks in refrigerator.
