Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 5 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • warm water - 2 Tbsp
  • margarine, melted - 1/2 c
  • dry yeast - 1 pkg
  • yeast cake - 1 item

How to make angel biscuits:

Sift dry ingredients together. Then, blend in shortening. Dissolve yeast in warm water; let stand for 5 minutes. Add to buttermilk. Add this mixture to the flour mixture; blend well.

Turn out on a floured surface and roll to desired thickness. Cut biscuits. Dip in melted margarine and place on a greased pan. Bake at 450° for 12 minutes. (Can make biscuits, cover them with foil and freeze.)
