Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 5 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 2 c
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- warm water - 2 Tbsp
- margarine, melted - 1/2 c
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
- yeast cake - 1 item
How to make angel biscuits:
Sift dry ingredients together. Then, blend in shortening. Dissolve yeast in warm water; let stand for 5 minutes. Add to buttermilk. Add this mixture to the flour mixture; blend well.Turn out on a floured surface and roll to desired thickness. Cut biscuits. Dip in melted margarine and place on a greased pan. Bake at 450° for 12 minutes. (Can make biscuits, cover them with foil and freeze.)
